The last few months have been a major transition for all of us as we negotiate the ramifications of COVID-19. For me, personally, it cut short my rehab process (TBI and disequilibrium issues) and sent me home to face the unknown with a pre-existing condition. After seeing sales drop, supply chains unravel and increasing costs of doing business in a pandemic, I realized – at 69 years of age! – I just don’t have the umph to continue Iris as a mail order company. So after Labor Day, Iris Herbal Products will just be a local concern (with physical distancing, face masks, etc), in my studio north of Questa in Taos County, NM
Thank you all for your support over the last 38.5 years! I’ve made friends all over the United States, and many of you have been customers for decades. It’s been a pleasure and an honor to serve your herbal needs and desires. So many memories come to mind as I write this, especially teaching workshops at The Michigan Womyns Music Festival.
When I was sharing my decision with a friend who has known me for 40 years about my sadness about becoming “semi-retired”, she reminded me that when I started Iris in 1982, aromatherapy was not a household word, and much of what I sold was hard to find, especially if one didn’t live in a large metropolitan area. So yes, I was one of the pioneers of making herbs and essential oils (and products made with those ingredients) accessible and affordable.
Once the pandemic is gotten under control, and it’s safer to travel, consider a visit. Until then, please support your local herbalist. Anyone – professionals especially – interested in purchasing larger amounts (1oz and above) of essential oils, email me after Labor Day and we will discuss drop ship possibilities.
Thanks again for your support and energy.
